Sam's Succotash TM, Sam has a number of trades marked or service marked products the names of which are exclusively Sam's Seeds. "Sam's Succotash" was the original trade marked product that Sam started in college at SDSU using a mix of high protein cereal grains. Sam's Succotash is designed specifically as a high protein forage or silage producing mix. The original "Sam's Succotash" mix now contains high tonnage forage oats, forage peas, hay barley and spring forage triticale. Seeding time should be early spring after last "oats killing" frost; seeding rate should be from 80-100#/acre

"Sam's Super Succotash" The newest version (spring 2005) is "Sam's Super Succotash". A three way mix of nitrogen producing legumes has been added to the original four way mix, so following early forage harvest, a legume cover crop will remain for the remainder of the season to fix nitrogen, cool the ground, and improve soil microbial activity. Dry flow able Intx inoculants have also been added to the mix to improve early nodulation on the legumes.

Legume mix can be grazed, hayed or left for cover for the following crop.
